Abstract

The tourism sector has an important role on the economy of a country, including Indonesia. Because of that, tourist attraction object development is very important. On the other hand, tourism has a very broad dimension and diverse business activities. Therefore, it needs to compile a database of tourist attraction object businesses for tourism planning, evaluating and policies. In 2021, Statistics Indonesia-BPS conducted the Tourist Attraction Object Survey in 34 provinces spread over 355 regencies/cities, including Magelang City. This survey asks for data in 2020 related to business profiles and other informations. The sample frame used is businesses/companies list that is included in the 2021 Indonesian Business Field Classification from the tourism directory as a result of updating in February 2021, which is equipped with address and indonesian business field classification. The results from this survey are, 1) more than 280 000 tourists visited Magelang City during 2020, 2) the places that are visited are nature conservation park; artificial tourist attraction; recreational park; and private-run museum, 3) as many as 12.11 percent of workers have tourism education, 4) as many as 25 percent tourism objects have business certification in the field of tourism from Business Certification Institution in the Field of Tourism, 5) as many as 75 percent of tourism objects implement an environmentally friendly system, and 6) 75 percent of tourism objects apply the 3R concepts. It needs more commitment and role from government and related parties to improve the quality of tourist attractions in Magelang City. It is not only improving the physical quality, but also the human resources.
